Goodnight My Son, I Love You
A Mother’s Story: The Tragedy of Suicide & The Journey of Hope
Suicide knows no bounds. It grips and rips the soul, testing and taunting us. As broken as we think we are, many broken-hearted parents still have much love and wisdom to give.
I know. My son Joel Serlin, died by suicide in 1998. A year and a half earlier, he called me from college. “Mom, I can’t control my thoughts of suicide. Would you work with my therapists, psychiatrist and me?”
Though sad that it had come to this, I was honored by his trust. We documented information, talked twice daily and developed our own support groups. We looked at solutions. It was the most accomplished academic year for Joel. We became both teacher and student for each other. He taught me to listen and when to express my thoughts or remain silent. When he died, a part of me died—until now.
This is instead of what I wrote for the E Book on the web site. Also, can you make the book look like a book, not mandatory but it would be nice.
